
Antoine Joly
Born in 1934 in Paris.
French.
Married, four children, fourteen grand children.
Engineer, and corporate executice for thirty years.
Retired since 1994.
Amateur pianist and organist.
In the fifties, he has attended three Prades Festivals as well as three series of Master Classes given by Pablo Casals, Sandor Vegh, Mieczysław Horszowski in Zermatt. He also translated into French Paul Hindemith’s Treaty of composition (Unterweisung im Tonsatz).
For over fifty years, he has practiced chamber music from Monteverdi to Brahms : four hand Duets, Sonatas, Trios and Quartets with Violin, Viola , Piano, Cello, Oboe, Clarinet, Flute, accompaniment of Lieder, Arias and vocal ensembles.
Together with Bruno Monsaingeon, he has transcribed for various ensembles a sizeable portion of the chamber music repertoire and of Bach organ works and Cantatas. Initially this was done in handwritten form but as soon as the Finale software became available in the late eighties, these transcriptions where performed on computer.
Recently, a transcription for Viola & Piano of the six Bach organ trio Sonatas was published by Edition Delrieu (www.editiondelrieu.com).
